Many expats recall the sacrifices they had to make during the 98-day lockdown in Spain ... and don’t want another one reimposed because of “imported” cases. ... According to a Euro Weekly News poll, practically 100% agreed that “tighter restrictions must be imposed on travellers coming into Spain particularly those from high-risk coronavirus countries” – and that includes the British tourists. After witnessing the UK’s crowded beach scenes again, British expat Colin Bates stated: “Seriously, after seeing what happened today in the UK, I have to say yes to tighter restrictions.”

As the first flights into Spain from the UK touch down, British expats have voiced their fears at their compatriots spreading coronavirus.

...the Daily Mirror was on board the first plane out of the UK heading to the Costas today. Excited sun-seekers and expats joined the early morning flight from Manchester to Alicante. Colleen Pitchford, 74, who retired and moved to Mazarron, Murcia, seven years ago, had flown back to the UK in early March ... was in tears as she landed at Alicante. She said: “I got the first available flight. I could not wait to get back home...”

British holidaymakers are free to travel to Spain from tomorrow without facing the requirement to self-isolate ... but visitors will have to quarantine in the UK when they return... Despite the lack of a two-way deal, the news is likely to please up to 400,000 Britons with second homes in Spain or those desperate to visit some of the 240,000 British expats in the country.

Según el Informe de Población Extranjera 2020 ... más de 75.000 personas ... han sido acogidas como madrileñas de adopción... el 15 por ciento de la población residente en la región son extranjeros ... situando el número de sus empadronamientos en niveles similares a los de 2012. ... En cuanto a los mayores de 65 años, la población de origen extranjero se sitúa en un cuatro por ciento frente al 20 por ciento de los españoles.
