-Consultation on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the area of financial services:
In its staff working document on the initiatives in the area of retail financial services, accompanying the Communication 'A single market for 21st century Europe', the European Commission announced that its services will examine further the possibilities of improving alternative redress mechanisms in the field of financial services, since gaps in their geographical and sectoral coverage still remain. Also, not all financial services providers adhere to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) schemes and inform their customers about them. This means that, currently, consumers and financial services providers will not always have the option of resolving their domestic or cross-border disputes through an ADR scheme. The objective of the consultation is to seek the views of the stakeholders on how ADR schemes in the area of financial services, providing consumers with individual redress, could be further improved.

-Report on the application of the directive 2004/38:
The Commission has adopted a report to the European Parliament and the Council on the application of Directive 2004/38/EC on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States. The purpose of the report is to present a comprehensive overview of how the Directive is transposed into national law and how it is applied in everyday life. With this report, the Commission is discharging its obligation under Article 39(1) of the Directive. The report concludes that although all Member States have adopted national laws to protect the right of EU citizens and their families to move and reside freely, the overall transposition of the Directive is rather disappointing.
